Application Instructions & Best Practices

For a certified, long-lasting barrier, adhere strictly to the professional installation workflow detailed on the packaging:

1. Surface Preparation

  • Thoroughly clean the roof surface by washing, scraping, and removing all structural dust, dirt, oil, grease, and loose concrete particles.

  • Cut and repair any damaged, hollow, or sharp edges. Patch these zones with a polymer-modified mortar made using Dr. Fixit Pidicrete URP mixed at 10% by weight of cement.

  • Crucial: A minimum roof slope of 1:100 must be maintained. The surface must not be visibly wet during application.

2. Critical Joint & Outlet Treatment

  • Junctions of roofs with parapet walls (corner rounding), rainwater outlets, marble strip joints, and enlarged cracks must be treated first.

  • Coat these critical areas with an extra layer of Roofseal Classic and embed a 45 gsm glass fibre mesh while wet to reinforce size-covering areas for additional strength.

3. Step-by-Step Coating Procedure (By Brush or Roller)

  • Step 1 (Self-Priming Coat): Stir well prior to application. Apply a self-priming coat of Dr. Fixit Roofseal Classic diluted 50% with water at a coverage rate of 9 to 10 sq.mt. / litre / coat.

  • Step 2 (Top Coats): Apply 2 undiluted top coats of Dr. Fixit Roofseal Classic at a forced coverage rate of 2 to 2.2 sq.mt. / litre / coat.

  • For Vertical Surfaces & Parapet Walls: Apply a coat of Dr. Fixit Roofseal Classic with a forced coverage rate of 3.3 to 3.7 sq.mt. / litre / coat.

4. Important Curing Precautions

  • Allow a drying time of 3 to 4 hours between each individual coat.

  • Allow the complete multi-layer system to air cure for a minimum of 7 days before heavy usage.

  • Weather Alert: Do not apply if rain is expected within 48 hours post-application. Parapet walls must also be fully enveloped to achieve complete structural waterproofing isolation.
