Directions for Use

1. Surface Preparation

• Thoroughly clean the target area to ensure it is free of structural dust, oil, grease, grime, and loose masonry particles.

• Assess the substrate for structural soundness.

• Treating Cracks: Small cracks (3mm or less) should be opened, cleaned, and tightly sealed using SmartCare Crack Seal. Larger cracks, damaged structural portions, or hollow areas must be repaired with a polymer-modified screed before coating.

2. Application Methods

A. Horizontal Surfaces (Terraces & Parapet Walls)

• First Coat (Self-Priming): Apply a self-priming coat of Damp Proof diluted with water in a 3:1 ratio by volume.

• Topcoats: Apply two perpendicular coats of pure Damp Proof without dilution.

• Coverage: Achieve a forced system coverage of 0.93 sq. mtr./L for ultimate water resistance.

• Drying Time: Allow 4 to 6 hours of drying time between individual coats.

B. Vertical Surfaces (Exterior Walls)

• Fresh Painting: Apply a self-priming coat of Damp Proof diluted with water in a 3:1 ratio. Follow up with a second coat of pure Damp Proof without dilution to achieve a forced system coverage of 2.32 sq. mtr./L.

• Re-Painting: On previously painted surfaces that feature high-quality exterior emulsions, apply a single undiluted coat of Damp Proof with a forced coverage of 2.79 to 3.25 sq. mtr./L.

• Final Finish: Topcoat with two final layers of your preferred shade of Asian Paints Exterior Emulsion, allowing 4 to 6 hours of drying time between coats.

3. Precautions & Recommendations

• Do not apply the coating during periods of rain or under extreme ambient temperatures.

• Avoid structural or physical abuse that could puncture the dried elastomeric film.

• Ensure corners, joints of drainpipes, and channels are treated with a cement-sand mortar prior to application.

• For optimum reinforcement across complex shapes, use SmartCare EPDM corners & tapes at joint junctions and corners.
